Lord, help me think simply yet deeply as children do.

God's strength is made perfect in my weakness... wow. It's not and never will be because of our strengths that God works in us. Neither is it in spite of our weakness that God uses us to work for His glory. It is because of our weakness that He specifically chosed us to advance His work.
That's what happened to Moses and Gideon. They were weaklings, claiming that they were totally inadequate to lead God's people and fight the Midianites respectively. God told both of them that it was because of both their full weaknesses that He was going to use them. Period. Nothing else!
I especially love the story of Gideon. God didnt choose 32,000 Israelites to fight against the 135,000 strong army of Midianites. He reduced the number to 300. That meant 1 Israelite is to 450 Midianites. Weaponary wasn't what we would have thought to be the best and most effective either: fragile jars, lighted torches and small trumpets? those seem to be the weakest of weapons! Human wisdom would immediately have proven this battle to be the silliest coming from the attacker. Yet, because of these weaknesses, God's strength was made perfect! This is somewhat similar to the 6-day war of Israel against her surrounding Arab neighbours - Egypt, Jordan and Syria. She was losing in terms of army size. Yet, Israel fought back with a pre-emptive attack and even gained more land than before the war. This surely can't be of human strength!
2 Corinthians 12:9 'My strength is made perfect in weakness'.
God's hand at work!

A message for uncle in picture if he ever reads blogs: dear uncle, for the sake of the people innocently eating their breakfast on a sunday morning 2 metres away from you, could you kindly refrain from smoking unfiltered cigarettes?

Just came back from celebrating birthdays: blessed birthday to lindy and fel! Bro Roger asked an interesting question though he didnt quite give the answer:
'Why do we celebrate birthdays?'
Remembering what i wrote on the birthday bookmark, i suggested 'so that we will learn to number our days?'
After looking at the bible verse again, i find it absolutely necessary to celebrate (remember) your birthday, if need be, every single day of your life on earth! Every day on this earth is God-given and we should then be good stewards of what God has given us, including: every day! That includes days of blues like cynthia's mondays and my alternate fridays (where i have an extra tutorial) Woah... some deep but simple stuff to think about.
The verse in the bible i found was Psalm 90:12 'So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom'

Jeremiah 6:16 This is what the LORD says:
"Stand at the crossroads and look;
ask for the ancient paths,
ask where the good way is, and walk in it,
and you will find rest for your souls."

Who Am I
I'm Lois, a human being saved and currently alive by God's grace.
[I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Galations 2:20]
