the fish porridge my mum made for me had a heart-shaped sweet potato. apparently, she used a knife to cut that out. how cute is that!

i found this postcard written most probably by a cashier on postsecrets.com which is a project to collect people's secrets. some are melancholic, others are sadistic while others are kinda cute. this is one of them, though it's a confession of doing something obviously not legal. haha
The preacher is compared to a fisherman. The fisherman’s vocation is a toilsome one; woe be to that minister who finds his calling to be otherwise. The fisherman must go forth in rough weathers, and at all hazards; if he should only fish in a calm sea he may often starve. So the Christian minister, whether men will receive the word with pleasure, or reject it with anger and wrath, must be ready to imperil reputation and risk comfort; yea, he must hate his own life also, or he is not worthy of the heavenly calling.
The fisherman’s is a rough occupation; no dainty fingers may come in contact with his nets. It is not a trade for gentlemen, but for rough, strong, fearless men, who can heave a rope, handle a tar-brush, or scour a deck. The ministry is not meant for your dainty souls who would go delicately through this world without a trial, an offense, an insult, or a sneer. Such work is meant for men who know how to do business on great waters, and can go abroad upon the sea, not fearing the spray or the waves. The fisherman’s calling, too, must be carried on perseveringly; it is not by one grand haul that a man makes his fortune; he must constantly cast forth his net. One sermon makes not a preacher; he who shall but now and then deliver himself of some carefully prepared oration, is no true minister of God. He must be instant in season and out of season; he must cast his net in all waters; he must in the morning be at his work, and in the evening he must not withhold his hand. To be a fisherman, a man must expect disappointments; he must often cast in the net and bring up nothing but weeds.
The minister of Christ must reckon upon being disappointed; and he must not be weary in well-doing for all his disappointments, but must in faith continue in prayer and labor, expecting that at the end he shall receive his reward.
From a sermon entitled "The Two Draughts Of Fishes," delivered April 6, 1862

The Love of God - amazing lyrics by Frederick M. Lehman
(Scroll down for lyrics)
The love of God is greater far
Than tongue or pen can ever tell
It goes beyond the highest star
And reaches to the lowest hell
The guilty pair bowed down with care
God gave His Son to win
His erring child He reconciled
And pardoned from his sin
Could we with ink the ocean fill
And were the skies of parchment made
Were ev’ry stalk on earth a quill
And ev’ry man a scribe by trade
To write the love of God above
Would drain the ocean dry
Nor could the scroll contain the whole
Tho’ stretched from sky to sky
O love of God how rich and pure
How measureless and strong
It shall forevermore endure
The saints’ and angels’ song

This is called the 'island catfight' in my terminology. Pedra Branca is finally claimed as Singapore's and wikipedia has done a great job at updating the hearings of 23rd May so quickly! On the day itself! I think it went up the minute the hearing was made.
Here's the link to the whole story from wiki's point of view

went to the posb atm to draw out $20 to buy woods coughdrops. the 'other withdrawal' button was so close to the '$1000' button that i hurriedly pressed the latter instead! After frantically trying to cancel by pressing the cancel button, it was to no avail. Out came 20 $50 bills and what a thick stack it was! I ended up not needing the initial $20 or the $1000 which spat out of the atm machine ever so willingly - i realised i had a $1 coin in the coin compartment of my wallet.

A photo blog suddenly seems so appealing. These are photos taken before my second paper today. The first is a post-it my friend pastes on the panel of the library table so as to keep awake reading her notes. Apparently, it doesnt work and her friend wrote 'practice what you preach' in pencil at the side when she dozed off! Of course, that was alr erased. The second is a reminder for students who are hungry to go the PerkPoint, the only spot in the library where food is allowed. Cute panda has 2 black eyes..

Our new home! Big cute goldfish costing $188
A new home for my fishes (1st picture) costing $63! Sadly, one gourami passed away as it was frightened by the newly-introduced white sucker fish (which swim around hysterically once the light is turned on) and jumped out of the water. There are hence only 3 gourami and 2 sucker fish left. My mum is eagerly waiting for the present fish to die so that goldfish like the big cute one above can take over the fish tank throne. I better be on high surveillance mode these days...

Who Am I
I'm Lois, a human being saved and currently alive by God's grace.
[I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Galations 2:20]
