Wanted to do a paper on smoking in campus, but we had to do a common question in a group, and this was not it. In any case, it's interesting to share. Is the no-smoking policy successfully being implemented in NUS? Apparently not. Students are not only smoking, but they are smoking beside the non-smoking sign... It could be an intended act of defiance. In any case, i dont like smoking. It makes me headachey.

Fireworks - just watched them at last night's Singapore Fireworks Festival. Beautiful show of sparks and sparkles and all things shiny and pretty. Just, they had the closing ceremony for the Beijing Olympics and boy, their fireworks are incomparable. I think they just threw a few million US bucks up into the sky tonight. (A video which i took from the festival is below to give you an idea of what i'm describing)

So many people! Never have I ever seen so many people before in an MRT station. It got so crowded at city hall that the intercom with the nice-robotic-sounding-lady voice had to request that 'those who are not boarding on trains, please kindly leave the station'. This crowding effect was caused by the Singapore Fireworks Festival that lasts tonight till tomorrow night. I overheard someone in the crowd commenting 'I wonder what will happen when the F1 race begins'. I wonder too!

Little Abigail Au Jing En - born on 19th August 2008. Congrats Chee Ping & Lindy! May God continue to make both of you God-fearing and faithful parents!
Sometime, when all life’s lessons have been learned, And sun and stars forevermore have set, The things which our weak judgements here have spurned, The things so’er which we grieved with lashes wet, Will flash before us out of life’s dark night, As stars shine most in deeper tints of blue; And we shall see how all God’s plans are right, And how what seemed reproof was love most true.
And we shall see how, while we frown and sigh, God’s plans go on as best for you and me; How, when we called, He heeded not our cry, Because His wisdom to the end could see. And e’en as prudent parents disallow, Too much of sweet to craving babyhood, So God, perhaps, is keeping from us now Life’s sweetest things, because it seemeth good.
Then be content, poor heart; God’s plans, like lilies pure and white, unfold; We must not tear the close-shut leaves apart,— Time will reveal the chalices of gold. And if, through patient toil, we reach the land Where tired feet, with sandals loosed, may rest, When we shall clearly see and understand, I think we will say, God knew the best.”
I have only included stanzas 1,2 and 5 to this poem. But what a beautiful poem nonetheless. I read it time and again to remind myself that God's ultimate plan for my life (and each of you believers reading this) is perfect to the very dot. Not a length short. Perfect mind you. How wonderful is that! After all those moments of worrying and straying away with doubts about the future, i really have to knock myself sometimes for being so silly and foolish for letting those thoughts get me. Hope this poem encourages you too in your Christian race to the finish line!
'...and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith...' Hebrews 12:1-2

the beauty of all the languages in the world - i just realised after attending my first german lecture. it's a wonder how God created so many languages. of course, they were created mostly during the tower of babel incident, out of Man's sin, but nonetheless, how beautiful german sounds :)

“A Church that does not evangelize will fossilize! The world at its worst needs the Church at its best !”

Who Am I
I'm Lois, a human being saved and currently alive by God's grace.
[I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Galations 2:20]
