while in the car on sunday, a minivan drove past with a car decal which goes: 'Anyone can go to heaven - just be good'. Seems like some kind of enlighting statement about how we can earn our way to heaven, which is where everyone, somewhere in their heart, wants to go when they leave this world. Do not be deceived my dear friends! Anyone who says they can earn their way to heaven is saying they have the power to save themselves, which is salvation by works! Even Adam the first man on earth cldnt save himself from his sin. How much less we (everyone on earth) as sinners who sin every single day of our lives can rescue ourselves from the pits of hell! Only Jesus Christ can save us for it is written
Jesus told his disciples, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" (John 14:6)
so the next time you see one of those decals, think about this: how much good is good enough for us to earn a spot in heaven in the eyes of God? the ans is simple. zero.

Ben & Jerry's is taking a stand against milk from cloned cows. Read this article to find out more. I esp like the phrase at the end 'Ben & Jerry’s still believes every cow has a right to be herself'. Yes...indeed

This article is adapted from Pulpit Magazine which i think would shed some light on you pple reading my blog on what the Bible means by 'praying without ceasing'.
Unceasing, incessant prayer is essential to the vitality of your relationship to the Lord and your ability to function in the world. But exactly what does it mean to pray without ceasing?
The first time someone hears about the concept of praying without ceasing it may conjure up the image of Christians walking around with their hands folded, heads bowed, and eyes closed, bumping into things. While certain postures and specific times set aside for prayer have an important bearing on our communication with God, to “pray at all times” obviously does not mean we are to pray in formal or noticeable ways every waking moment. And it does not mean you’re supposed to devote yourself to reciting ritualistic patterns and forms of prayer.
To “pray without ceasing” refers to recurring prayer, not nonstop talking. Prayer is to be a way of life — you’re to be continually in an attitude of prayer. It is living in continual God-consciousness, where everything you see and experience becomes a kind of prayer, lived in deep awareness of and surrender to Him. It should be instant and intimate communication — not unlike that which we enjoy with our best friend.
To “pray without ceasing” means when you are tempted, you hold the temptation before God and ask for His help. When you experience something good and beautiful, you immediately thank the Lord for it.When you see evil around you, you ask God to make it right and to use you toward that end, if that is His will. When you meet someone who does not know Christ, you pray for God to draw that person to Himself and to use you to be a faithful witness. When you encounter trouble, you turn to God as your Deliverer.
Thus life becomes a continually ascending prayer: all life’s thoughts, deeds, and circumstances become an opportunity to commune with your Heavenly Father. In that way you constantly set your mind “on the things above, not on the things that are on earth” (Colossians 3:2).

This was the cutter my brother used to cut my bicycle lock into 2. My dad asked if i wanted to keep the cut lock as a sovenir. I told him no (trying to suppress my garang guni instincts) but it would have been nice to cut about 5 cm worth of it just for keeps sake. Stop it Lois!

i dont usually write my life stories here nowadays but here's one which made my day and confirmed that i am a muddlehead by nature
During lunch hour, i cycled to ghim moh and decided to lock my bike to itself but realised that it was too far away to keep watch of. In so doing, my church friend and i shifted it to the railings which was safer. Then we shifted the bike again so that it cld be in the shelter. While doing so, i lost 2 keys which were for the same lock cos they were bounded together in the same key ring. We searched high and low, left and right for those keys but they just went missing. So, i just had to go home without my bike. It was weird going away full but coming back empty-handed. Just an hour ago, my dad and elder bro brought an industrial cutter to the site. After giving the patch of grass one last check, my bro just snapped the lock with the cutter like it was a twig! Amazingly strong cutter.
Hence, morals of the story is first - in everything give thanks to God, second - keep a look out for small items like keys, third - dont be such a muddlehead

as the title above shows, i apparently do not own tennis hands. Nevertheless, Lois is going to try her best to play reasonably well and hit the ball in the right direction. Hence, to improve my performance on thurs evenings with my church friends, Lois is gg to receive help/assistance from beverly wong starting from tmr in NUS tennis court 6 from 1600-1800. when sch starts, she will attempt to make it a weekly session as well in the mornings.
on the side note, I still have not broken my record of NOT losing things within half a year cos I just lost my favourite black squirty bottle whilst returning back frm a ball session. will give it a shot at finding it again at suntec cos i love it so much. still Lois'll like to thank her beloved brother for taking time off to drive her around in search of it. one thing good that's come out of the unfruitful search - we gained good bonding time!

'Many, O Lord my God are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.' Psalm 40:5
'It is the land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end' Deuteronomy 11:12
'Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.' Psalm 139:23-24

Who Am I
I'm Lois, a human being saved and currently alive by God's grace.
[I am crucified with Christ: neverthless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself for me.
Galations 2:20]
