A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;
Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:
For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;
His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,
On earth is not his equal.
Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;
Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:
Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;
Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,
And He must win the battle.
And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,
We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:
The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;
His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,
One little word shall fell him.
That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;
The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:
Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;
The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,
His kingdom is forever.
Wow... the lyrics of this hymn still reverberate in my brain after last night. In worship since young, I thought this to be the worst melody anyone could have composed. But look at the lyrics! How great a depth every line has! No repetition and truly speaks of God as our Almighty Fortress. Indeed, we come before God, not in our own self-righteousness, but Christ's atoning blood for all our sin stains. To Him alone we flee in our distress and joys!

Just on Tuesday, some money-hungry soul vandalised his neighbours' cars with corrosive liquids. His neighbours apparently did not support the en-bloc campaign the Laguna Park estate, along with many others. It has till the end of 2008 to gather 80% of the residents to vote for en-bloc but it now stands at less than 65%, according to the
ST.
It's sad that people love money so much (a whooping $2.1m per flat unit) that they resort to harming other people. What the bible says is true:
For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1Tim 6:10
Someone commented in the ST article, 'How can people stoop so low? The vandals have coated their conscience with an armour of money.'
